US STOCKS-Indexes open down after jobs data

(Reuters) - The Dow Jones industrial average was down 18.70
points, or 0.14 percent, at 13,444.63. The Standard & Poor's
500 Index was down 1.97 points, or 0.13 percent, at
1,470.23. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 5.50
points, or 0.21 percent, at 2,570.48.

US STOCKS-S&P drops 1 percent as Bear Stearns sinks

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, Aug 3 - U S. stocks dropped on Friday,
with the S&P 500 losing more than 1 percent, after Standard &
Poor's cut Bear Stearns Cos. Inc.'s rating outlook,
dragging down shares of the investment bank and other
financial-sector stocks.




The Dow Jones industrial average was down 118.52
points, or 0.88 percent, at 13,344.81. The Standard & Poor's
500 Index was down 14.72 points, or 1.00 percent, at
1,457.48. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 21.67
points, or 0.84 percent, at 2,554.31.

Sandisk, Micron rise after Samsung chip outage

(Reuters) - Conversely, some consumer electronics makers may be forced to pay more for NAND flash, a slim form of flash memory with no moving parts that is poised to eventually take over a market once dominated by clunkier hard drives.




For example, Apple Inc. uses NAND flash in some of its iPod digital media player devices. Shares of Apple fell 1.34 percent to $134.66 in early trading on Friday on Nasdaq.

US STOCKS-Earnings lift blue chips, credit woes linger

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, July 31 - U.S. blue-chip stocks rose on
Tuesday, lifted by positive earnings from companies, including
General Motors Corp. , and by reassuring reports on the
economy.




But two major stock indexes were off their highs for the
session and the Nasdaq was little changed as concerns about
deteriorating credit conditions -- which led to last week's
market rout -- returned.

Auxilium reaffirms 2007 net revenue view

(Reuters) - Shares of the specialty pharmaceutical company were trading
up nearly 7 percent, or $1.08, at $17.19 in morning trade on
the Nasdaq.

US STOCKS-Indexes end higher in rebound from sell-off

(Reuters) - Based on the latest available data, the Dow Jones
industrial average rose 92.84 points, or 0.70 percent,
to end unofficially at 13,358.31. The Standard & Poor's 500
Index was up 14.96 points, or 1.03 percent, to finish
unofficially at 1,473.91. The Nasdaq Composite Index
was up 21.04 points, or 0.82 percent, to close unofficially at
2,583.28.

US STOCKS-Indexes gain on profit hopes in seesaw trading

(Reuters) - The Dow Jones industrial average was up 57.72
points, or 0.44 percent, at 13,323.19. The Standard & Poor's
500 Index was up 7.79 points, or 0.53 percent, at

US STOCKS-Indexes fall as credit concerns remain

(Reuters) - The Dow Jones industrial average was down 51.37
points, or 0.38 percent, at 13,422.20. The Standard & Poor's

1,476.03. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 11.50

UPDATE1-Tully's Coffee sees IPO of 3.5 mln shares at $10-$12/shr

(Reuters) - The specialty retailer and wholesaler of hand-craft
roasted, gourmet coffees said KeyBanc Capital Markets Inc.,
D.A. Davidson & Co. and Stifel Nicolaus & Co. Inc. were
underwriting the IPO, according to a filing with the U.S.
Securities and Exchange Commission.




The Seattle, Washington-based company, which has applied
for a Nasdaq listing under the symbol "TULY", has given
underwriters the option to buy up to 525,000 additional shares
to cover any over allotments.

UPDATE 1-FirstCity Financial posts Q1 loss, lower Q4 profit

(Reuters) - Shares of the financial services company were down almost
13 percent at $8.85 in morning trade on the Nasdaq Tuesday,
after falling to a year-low of $8.51 earlier in the day.




The company posted a loss of $914,699, or 8 cents a share,
for the first quarter ended March 31, compared with a profit of
$2.0 million, or 17 cents a share, in the year-ago period.

UPDATE 1-Cumulus Media agrees to $1.3 bln buyout

(Reuters) - The agreement is the latest in a wave of media industry
buyouts, many of which have put leading U.S. newspaper
publishers and radio broadcasters into private hands as they
grapple with weak advertising and competing digital formats.




Under the buyout, Cumulus shareholders would receive $11.75
in cash per share, amounting to a 40 percent premium over its
closing price on Friday, the company said. Cumulus shares
jumped 35 percent to $11.35 in early Nasdaq trading.

HP says to still seek software acquisitions

(Reuters) - "It is likely that HP will continue to be acquisitive in its software portfolio," Thomas Hogan, senior vice president of HP software, told Reuters. "There are other parts of the portfoliio that are separate from the area of information technology operations and automation ... that we will continue to explore."'



HP said it would tender for all outstanding shares of Opsware, a supplier of software used to automate computer data centers, at $14.25 each, a 38.6 percent premium to Opsware's closing price of $10.28 on Nasdaq on Friday. HP values the deal at about $1.6 billion.

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, July 23 - Computer and printer maker Hewlett-Packard said on Monday that it would acquire Opsware Inc. for $1.6 billion to bolster its line-up of business software offerings.



HP said it would tender for all outstanding shares of Opsware, a supplier of software used to automate computer data centers, at $14.25 each, a 38.6 percent premium to Opsware's closing price of $10.28 on Nasdaq on Friday.

Earnings misses, subprime woes punish Wall Street

(Reuters) - U.S. stocks tumbled on Friday, battered by disappointing results from such bellwethers as Caterpillar and Google, and more signals that fallout from the risky subprime mortgage market may spread.

The day's losses were big enough to drag the major indexes into negative territory for the week, snapping a three week streak of gains for the Dow, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq.

US STOCKS-Earnings misses dent indexes; Dow, S&P off 1 pct

(Reuters) - The Dow Jones industrial average was down 128.52
points, or 0.92 percent, at 13,871.89. It slipped as low as
13,856.12. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down
12.21 points, or 0.79 percent, at 1,540.87. The Nasdaq
Composite Index was down 27.09 points, or 1.00 percent,
at 2,692.95.

Nasdaq profit more than triples

(Reuters) - Analysts, on average, were expecting Nasdaq to earn 36 cents a share, according to Reuters Estimates.




Net revenue for the quarter rose 16 percent to $198.7 million, excluding various fees.
