Morocco H1 c/a surplus up 72 pct, trade gap widens

(Reuters) - Morocco's trade deficit grew in the first half of 2007 as a construction boom increased demand for foreign building materials and equipment, the North African country's Exchange Office said on Friday.

However, the current account surplus, boosted by increases in remittances from Moroccans abroad and tourism receipts, rose by 72 percent year-on-year.

Cuba's current account back in the red in 2006

(Reuters) - The data, posted on the Web site of the National Statistics
Office, showed the current account deficit in 2006 reversed a
$140.2 million surplus in 2005, a year when the trade deficit
was a smaller $5.234.6 billion.




The data did not provide a reason for the current account
going into deficit.

UPDATE 1-US May net long-term capital inflows hit record

(Reuters) - May's net overall capital inflow amply covered the U.S.
trade deficit for the month, which was $60 billion.




In April, overall capital inflows were $97.8 billion.
