FTSE 100 Drops, Wiping Out Advance for Year, Led by Northern Rock, Invesco

(Bloomberg) -- U.K. stocks fell for a second day,
wiping out the benchmark FTSE 100 Index's gains for 2007.
Financial companies including Northern Rock Plc, a mortgage
lender, and Invesco Plc, a money manager, led the retreat.

The FTSE 100 Index declined 24.40, or 0.4 percent, to
6199.90 at 8:40 a.m. in London, for a loss this year of 0.3
percent. The FTSE All-Share Index slipped 14.18, or 0.4 percent,
to 3209.66. Ireland's ISEQ Index dropped 157.91, or 1.8 percent,
to 8437.32.

U.K. Shares Drop for a Second Day; Northern Rock, Rolls-Royce Pace Retreat

(Bloomberg) -- U.K. stocks fell for a second day.
Northern Rock Plc, a mortgage lender, and Rolls-Royce Group Plc,
the world's second-biggest aircraft-engine maker, led the
retreat.

The FTSE 100 Index declined 56.2, or 0.9 percent, to 6168.1
at 8:04 a.m. in London.

FTSE up as miners support but credit fears remain

(Reuters) - The FTSE 100 index of Britain's leading shares edged up on Friday after U.S. stocks climbed overnight as robust earnings tempered nervousness about more weakness in credit conditions.

Such worries were heightened after Accredited Home Lenders Holding Co. -- a subprime lender in the process of being sold -- which raised concern about its ability to stay in business. For details, see.

GLOBAL MARKETS-Stocks, dollar stabilise after battering

(Reuters) - Credit spreads narrowed after blowing out earlier this week
on troubles at the U.S. high-risk subprime mortgage sector. U.S.
stock futures pointed to a firmer open on Wall Street a day
after posting their worst one-day performance since March.




The FTSEurofirst 300 index turned slightly into
positive territory after hitting a one-month low. U.S. stock
futures also rose after Web retailer Amazon.com
reported strong profit and raised its outlook.

RLPC-Investors mull proposed changes to Boots loan

(Reuters) - The deal will also add an interest cover covenant to the
covenant lite loan to offer additional protection to investors
spooked by a steep sell-off in the debt markets in recent
weeks, sources told Reuters Loan Pricing Corporation.




KKR [KKR.UL] and Boots [AB.UL] Deputy Chairman Stefano
Pessina agreed in April to buy the retailer for 11.1 billion
pounds in Europe's biggest-ever private equity
deal and the first of a FTSE 100 company.

U.K. Stocks Advance, Paced by Shares of Resolution, Barclays, Prudential

(Bloomberg) -- U.K. stocks rose, led by Resolution
Plc and Barclays Plc. Prudential Plc and Legal & General Group
Plc also climbed.

The benchmark FTSE 100 Index rallied 29, or 0.4 percent, to
6614.2 in London at 8:07 a.m. The FTSE All-Share Index added
11.93, or 0.4 percent, to 3419.72. Ireland's ISEQ Index rose 9.09
to 9036.4.

FTSE down on US subprime woes; Sainsbury rises

(Reuters) - Britain's top share index fell 0.7 percent early on Wednesday on rising concerns over risky U.S. subprime mortgages, but Sainsbury rose after receiving a bid approach.

At 0735 GMT, the FTSE 100 was down 48.2 points, or 0.72 percent at 6,610.9, after slipping 0.6 percent in the previous session on concerns of higher UK interest rates. European shares also fell.
